The Morris Louis elements were the first to arrive. The drips quarantined sections off for the figures to exist in. The figure on the right-side served as an anchor point to evolve to left-side figure. The pose echoed the negative shape created by the legs so that both figures shared this thread. Originally the Queen figure was very androgynous. I even considered using a transgender model to help bend the Queen meaning.
The seagull (an image from the Gulf crisis) became a powerful allegory for nature’s condition. After the Queen figure evolved into the Monarch that allegory became much darker. The transformation was wholly unexpected.
