SEATED WOMAN Version 1
This printmaking series serves as the foundational genesis for my "de Kaasso" persona, established through a rigorous synthesis of two disparate modernistic lineages. The conceptual project explores the intersection of Willem de Kooning’s gestural Abstract Expressionism and Pablo Picasso’s structural Cubism.
In Seated Woman, Version 1, the composition prioritizes an expressionistic spatial depth, utilizing it as a laboratory to define the technical parameters of this hybrid identity. The work functions as a formal inquiry into how the fluid mark-making of the mid-century American tradition can be reconciled with the fragmented, multi-perspective geometry of early 20th-century European modernism.
